Description

The science of mental health and nutrition has rapidly evolved over the past decade leading to a new set of applicable skills with the potential to transform clinical practice. In this training, clinicians will learn the fundamentals of nutritional psychiatry from one of the leaders and founders of this movement, Dr. Drew Ramsey. Weaving his experience as an active clinician, farmer and mental health advocate, Dr. Ramsey will guide you through the recent research on specific nutrients and their impact on brain health, the clinical studies supporting nutritional interventions in mental health, and specific food assessment and nutritional intervention skills.

By the end of the program participants will be able to:

  1. Describe Nutritional Psychiatry/Psychology.
  2. Discuss how food has changed over time and the effects of new dietary patterns on the brain and cite relevant studies.
  3. Describe key evidence-based nutrients relevant in the treatment of mental health conditions.
  4. Describe relevant food categories to be used when working with patients.
